Ederson will not be joining
Manchester United
this summer, and
Atalanta
are preparing to discuss a new contract to keep the midfielder in Bergamo.
According to Football Italia, the clubs had shaken hands on a €45m package for a move after the 2026 World Cup, but concerns during medical checks ended the switch.
The Brazilian completed an initial round of tests in the United States during the tournament, which did not satisfy United. He was then brought to the UK for further assessments before the deal was abandoned.
Ederson is into the final year of his
contract, which runs until summer 2027. The club plan to meet his representatives in the coming weeks to discuss his future.
Atalanta maintain there are no major fitness or medical issues affecting the player, and they are ready to welcome him back into the squad.
Any fresh terms could also strengthen the club’s position if he looks to move again this summer or in January. He is currently on holiday after his involvement with Brazil at the World Cup.
